A Push in the Right Direction

Shelby Hudgens, a homeless man in Colorado Springs, spent three hours helping push cars out of the snow. It wasn't long before his kindness caught the attention of a local news crew, who traveled to Fillmore Street to interview him. Shelby shared that he was grateful for what he had; his dog, an old blue muscle car, and a very big heart. After reading the news article about Shelby, Sarah Webster wished that "everyone would notice people in need and be able to help them so freely." To pay it forward, she started a "GoFundMe" page for Shelby with the goal of raising $7,500. Once this was released on the news, the page tripled that number with over $23,000! In addition to that, a viewer had offered Shelby a job. "It's one of those things where you think it's never going to happen to me," he said, "everything will just keep snowballing and getting better." Shelby's dream of becoming a certified medical assistant isn't so far away after all.
